I recently heard about a product made by “Too Faced” called Mood Swing. It is a women’s Lip Balm that changes color according to how excited the woman is. Apparently the Lip Balm changes from clear to darker shades of pink and red depending on the wearer’s level of excitement. 

It supposedly reacts with a woman’s body chemistry (not sure how that works, but I’ll go with it). It even comes with a color chart for the men so that we can decipher a girl’s mood by the color shade of her lips. I am not sure how accurate this stuff is or if it even works at all but it seems like an interesting product if it works.

 

If you have been a fan of our blog and have read any of my past product reviews from grocery bought men’s skin care items, you probably have seen that I haven’t been very complimentary about them in the past. I honestly don’t just bash these products because you can buy them from a grocery store and not from our website, but a bad product is a bad product no matter where you buy it.

On that note, I was recently leaving my local gym and noticed they had free samples of Irish Springs New Intensifying Body Wash with Eucalyptus and Menthol on the front counter. I had seen the ads on TV for it and decided to give it a shot. So I grabbed a bottle and proceeded to go home and take a shower.

In my younger days I used to use Irish Spring bar soap and generally liked it. It has a nice smell and does get your body clean. It did lack a little in the moisture department, even when I began using the Aloe formula. But being naïve to high quality men’s skin care products I thought it was the best available.

I had high hopes for Irish Springs New Body Wash. I thought the idea of adding a little eucalyptus and menthol to a body wash would be a good idea. I thought it would be nice to have a nice tingle feeling on your skin in the morning to wake you up and get you going, kind of like how Balla Powder Tingle Formula gives you a little tingle.

So I went home and prepared to take a shower, opened the bottle to see what this stuff smelled like. I was pleasantly surprised that it had a very nice scent. Similar to other Irish Spring products I have used in the past, it has a nice fresh mountain type scent.

I normally use a loufa when using any body washes, but the directions stated to squeeze a little out in your hand and begin lathering up. So that is exactly what I did, and I must say this product did lather up pretty nicely. Even though I feel I would have gotten more lather from a loufa, the amount I got by just using my hands was acceptable.

So I begin to lather up my body with this stuff, starting with my arms and working my way down. After about 5 seconds I began to feel the Eucalyptus and the Menthol on my arms. It started out as a mild feeling but began to intensify. Before I realized just how intense this body wash was I had already lathered up the nether regions. Big Mistake!!! I could handle the intensity on my arms, stomach and legs, but it was way too intense for the ole twig and berries. I washed it off as fast as I could, but it left the minty burning on my skin. So I grabbed my Sharps Happy Me All Over Soap Bar and began to scrub away to get this burning sensation to stop. Luckily the Sharps Soap helped stop the burning and avoided an embarrassing trip to the emergency room.

So needless to say I will not be reusing the Irish Spring Body wash ever again. I couldn’t get the bottle into my trash can fast enough. I can’t think that they actually did a focus group with this product and received good reviews. This stuff really burned in the most sensitive of areas.

I really had high hopes for this product. I still think the idea of adding a tingle to a body wash is a good idea, but anyone who wants to create a product with this effect really needs to go easy on the tingle effect. Maybe if they had cut the Menthol and Eucalyptus ingredients in half or a quarter this could be a good product.

Billy Jealousy Hydroplane Shave Cream

I have always been a huge fan of Billy Jealousy’s Hydroplane. I feel it is one of those break through products that everyone should give a try and see if they like it. For me I personally like this shave gel because I have thin facial hairs and it really allows my razor to glide down my face when I shave. Another reason that I love Hydroplane shaving cream is that it lasts forever. Just a tiny amount is needed to shave your whole face. It states on the bottle that the more water you use, the slicker it gets. I was a little skeptical when I first read this, but after using just a little Hydroplane and adding a good amount of water to my face, it became apparent that Billy Jealousy knew what they were talking about. Another reason that Hydroplane is one of my favorites is that you can use it anywhere on your body that you shave. This includes Arms, Legs, Back and your intimate areas. I would recommend that every man should give Billy Jealousy Hydroplane Super Slick Shave Cream a try. I have the utmost confidence that you will be hooked for life.

Balla Powder Original Formula

Living in Orlando Florida it tends to be hot and humid 98% of the time. While this makes for great beach days, Fishing and any other outdoor activities. It does not lend itself to keeping the ole twig and berries cool and dry. Humidity and heat trigger the body to sweat, and one of the first places your body sweats is down below and under your arms.

Deodorant seems to be on every guys list of grooming supplies because they don’t want to have body odor under there arms. But most guys don’t use anything for there undercarriage, and if they do there are usually using some talcum powder that was formulated in the early 1900’s before electricity.

Balla Powder was formulated by men for men. It is definitely a nessecity in my grooming arsenal. I love how easy it is to apply and it’s fresh clean scent. Living in a sub tropical environment it is a must to keep me feeling cool and confident.

 While we are speaking about keeping dry and fresh, I feel we should touch on the subject of deodorants. Most men use an anti-perspirant deodorant because it stops your under arms from sweating. The way an anti-perspirant works is by closing the pores on your skin. This closing of the pores limits the amount of sweat that gets out. But it also limits the amount of toxins that get out of your body through your skin.

 The ingredient in anti-perspirants that close the pores is called Aluminum Oxide. It is 99.99% of all store bought deodorants. While not only closing your pores, which is not good for your skin or your lymphatic system, but the chemical is also linked to brain disorders, Alzheimer’s and breast cancer.  Personally I would rather be stinky and have BO than have Alzheimers or a brain disorder. While Aluminum Oxide wont immedietly cause any problems, it is the build up of using this stuff day after day that may catch up with you.
